Late Tuesday afternoon, Jack Smith, the Biden-Harris administration’s special counsel prosecuting Republican opponent Donald Trump, filed a new version of the indictment charging the former president with four felony counts related to the 2020 election and Jan. 6. Smith amended the indictment in an attempt to make it comport with the Supreme Court’s decision on presidential immunity.
